December, 2009
Dear Oblates,
Greetings to you during this time of the Christmas season and beginning of a new year. May this time of year be filled with joy and hope in your lives.
There are a number of positive things happening in the Oblate Program that we wish to share with you. In Sept. 2009 we were grateful to Rev. Jane Tomaine, our retreat leader who inspired us through many various aspects of the Benedictine Rule. Our time together was exciting. About thirty Oblates participated in the retreat.
We met and talked about future events we would welcome at Pecos. Several Oblates mentioned they would like to see the Oblates gather at Pecos at least two times a year for prayer and retreat. There were also suggestions that we begin having Area Meetings for Oblates to gather.
In response to these requests,
-
we are planning an Oblate Area Meeting in Denver in late Spring, 2010. (details will be given after January 1).
-
we will also have a “Day of Reflection” for Oblates in the New Mexico area on Palm Sunday, March 28, 2010.
-
we will have our yearly retreat in Sept. 2010.
-
if there are enough interested Oblates in Texas, we may have an Area Meeting in Texas in October, 2010.
Please let us know what your interests are so we can plan ahead.
A number of Oblates have requested prayers. We have a wonderful Yahoo Group for Pecos-Oblates that you may join – to both see who has requested prayers, to mention any intentions you may have and to just share with other Oblates. Go to the Yahoo website (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Pecos-Oblates/) to sign up to be part of this group.
We will be attaching some of the photos from the Sept. Oblate Retreat. We hope you enjoy them. In the meantime, if you have any questions, ideas or reflections you would like to share with the Oblate Coordinating Committee, please email us at oblates@pecosmonastery.org.
Your Oblate Coordinating Committee,
Bro. Jim, Maria Santa-Maria, Peter Colehour, Sr. Pat
