Friends of the Soul Retreat

September 23-25, 2016

“My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.” Ps 42:2a

Thirst. Not just the desire to satisfy an inner drought, but the awareness that something deep within, soul deep, needs more. We know something is off, but what? We work hard, we struggle, we plan. We do so much. But it’s not enough. We still thirst. Perhaps it’s time to hear the cry of our soul. Friends of the Soul invites you to join us on a journey of healing and reconciliation. As Retreatants, we’ll come together in unity of faith and heart, believing in the presence of God among us. As Friends, we’ll talk about the needs of the soul, about what sustains us when life is hard. We’ll speak of a God-inspired breath that both reminds us of God and yet confronts us with our own humanity.

Friends of the Soul team members have worked under many titles including Chaplain, Minister, Educator, Spiritual Director, Motivational Speaker, Therapist, and Writer. Among us we’ve known great joys—marriage, children, grandchildren, healing, friendships, work—all reasons to celebrate. We’ve also known tears— loss, divorce, burnout, death, late-stage cancer, and despair of heart—all reasons that confirmed our need for God. Our hope for the Retreat is that we will all find renewal in heart, mind, strength and soul. In heart because we came to know others on a similar quest, in mind because we considered questions God asks of all who search for truth, in strength because our faith was challenged, and soul because soul is where life breathes. Expect God to meet you. Listen for God’s voice. Rest. Pray. Heal.

Learning to care for the soul is a lifelong process. We invite you to join us on a 3-day experience of encouragement and growth in the understanding of God, of Soul, and in the knowledge of our incredible worth to God and of God’s love for us.
