Monthly Healing Service

1st Monday of each Month

GARetreatsTaizePhoto
In the small rural village of Taize in France, a form of sung meditation was born. The brothers of this ecumenical community use short musical phrases with singable melodic units that can be memorized by everyone. The goal of this music is prayer, especially communal prayer. The repetitive nature of these songs is an echo of deeply rooted traditions such as the Jesus Prayer. This way of praying can promote a kind of inner unity of the person, allowing one’s heart to be more open and more attentive to the invitations of God.

There is a spirit of recollection and an atmosphere of silence to Taize Prayer, and the elements of the prayer-space are simply arranged. In such a setting, meditative song will lead to deeper communion with God and with brothers and sisters throughout the world who need our prayer.

Those who come to Taize Prayer are invited to simply open their hearts to the Spirit. Bring the needs of our world, your own cares and concerns, your loved ones, and most especially yourself to God with open heart and hands. Let the power of simple melodies and words wash over your soul in praise, in healing, and in trust.

There is no cost for this prayer group.

We meet the first Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m.
