Tobi Clement's Invite the Intuitive Into Your Painting Process

Tobi Clement
This four-day artistic retreat, taught by Tobi Clement, an accomplished, award-winning pastel artist, is an excellent way to improve your artistic abilities whether you're a beginner or intermediate pastel artist. To express one's own creative voice, it is important to cultivate both technique and intuition into your artistic process.
The workshop takes place in the tranquil environment of a Benedictine monastery in the beautiful Pecos Valley of New Mexico. The peaceful grounds of the Monastery will provide endless inspiration for plein air painting.

We will discuss the importance of establishing a strong artistic and intuitive foundation by experimenting with different brands of papers and pastels. Demos will show different methods to begin a painting while discussing the value of colored papers and various underpainting techniques. Equal time will be spent plein air painting with short, fun exercises to help discover the value of seeing with artistic eyes.

"Painting plein air allows our intuitive senses to expand so we can feel a connection with the landscape. Standing quietly in observation allows us to shift into seeing on a deeper level. It is from this place of stillness that we are able to embrace our intuitive, which in turn will inform our artistic eye. This is the true journey of an artist, the blessing of going deeper within ourselves through art," says Tobi.

The four-night/four-day artistic retreat will be held in the Monastery's Tolomei Creative Retreat Center. The price of $550.00 includes: workshop, individual rooms with private bathrooms, three meals a day, and a pleasant gathering/workshop space.Commuter price is $300.00
