We also continue to pray for our world at this time. There is much going on, many people are suffering and fearful for the future. As a monastic community, we believe it is our part to pray for the needs of the world and humanity. We do this every day during our monastic office and at the daily mass.
–In Christ, Abbot Aidan, OSB
The Abbey now enters the 71st year of continuous monastic presence in Pecos.
We look forward to serving the needs of our neighbors and guests for many years to come.
Monastery News
We are very happy with the completed remodel of the Tolomei Building. I will take some photos of the outside and have them posted soon. Our guests tell us everything looks so good, comfortable and welcoming. I think the new beds also make a big difference. I have always maintained that a good mattress is so important when one is on vacation, or in our case when one is on retreat. The Kitchen additions have been welcomed by those who cook so that is nice to hear.
Landscaping is always a challenge because of where we live – weeds are so invasive and so hard to keep at bay. The often muddy parking area needs to be upgraded, probably with black top, so at some point when funds allow we will do that.
Our property caretaker (Dennis) has been busy since he arrived last summer. He was caretaker for a ranch in Wyoming, or Montana…I don’t remember now. Anyway he mentioned that the property lends itself to having a caretaker, and we readily agreed, and so he now lives on the property fulltime. It seems it is time to have someone living here who is available at any time to take care of whatever might arise. He will also be responsible for security which is a welcome arrangement for us. During the month of January we did a big ‘spring clean’ and donated a full UHaul truck load of items to various that we don’t need to Thrift stores in town. Dennis was instrumental in getting the job done, so we are grateful to him.
Br Timothy continues with his Theology Studies (long distance) through a College in the UK. He seems to be enjoying the intellectual stimulation and it keeps him busy in his cell. He will be going over to the College in June for a required weekend residential. He comes from a big family and recently found out that his sister is pregnant – he says this will be his 16th niece or nephew!
I hope you are enjoying the new website. I’m grateful to Jasmine, Jay and Kyle who worked tirelessly for a year to bring to fruition the new design.
We thank you for all your support – happy spring…almost.
God bless you all,
Abbot Aidan,
