Our summer volunteer season has come to an end, and things are slowing down here. But looking toward next year our program will start up again in the Spring. Are you interested in spending some time as a volunteer? We are always in need of a strong pair of hands to help us in the daily operation of the monastery. We accept volunteers throughout the summer months, and sometimes in the fall/winter depending on the need.

As a volunteer, you would be given a work assignment that best suits your skills and talents. Some areas of work might be - kitchen, laundry, gardening, library, wood shop, painting/maintenance, retreat house assistance. You would follow our monastic daily rhythm of prayer and work according to the Rule of St Benedict. You would receive room and board. Typically work hours are in the morning from 9-12:30, and sometimes in the afternoon for an hour or so depending on the need at the time. Volunteers have one day off a week.

Length of stay varies depending on each individual application, but generally speaking we allow volunteers to stay for two weeks to one month. This can can be extended with approval of the Abbot and the volunteer committee.

References, work history and a CBC are required by all applicants and all applications are subject to approval by our Volunteer Committee. Please submit your application early because we limit the number of volunteers that come.

If we desire to dwell in the tabernacle of His kingdom, we cannot reach it in any way, unless we run thither by good works. But let us ask the Lord with the Prophet, saying to Him: "Lord, who shall dwell in Thy tabernacle, or who shall rest in Thy holy hill?" (Ps 14[15]:1)
